The Everything Bag

What’s in his bag?

The little C and I came home a little earlier than usual (although the sun was setting when we got home) so that we could bake some more cakes before our family Christmas gathering this weekend. He was helping with the pecans and brown sugar when he disappeared briefly only to return with a miniature Indiana Jones bag. He plopped it up on the counter and told me that it was his “everything I need bag”. I mentioned it was awfully small for and “everything you needed” bag but that it was cool. He hung it on a cabinet handle next to us and we kept filling cake pans with batter. When we were done filling pans and placing them in the oven, the little C ran off to watch a bit of TV and I decided I had to inspect the contents of his bag. Then I went straight into to grab my camera. This needed to be documented, recorded, saved for history, saved for blackmail.

First the miniature Indiana Jones bag (goes to and actual Indiana Jones action figure).

And it’s contents:

I know that these must be really important to be in the “everything I need bag” (click on this last picture for a bigger one)

That little guy just cracks me up. I think if I had an “everything I need bag” it was need to be big enough to fit him and his brother in it for sure.

Placa Peas

So yesterday at church the boys apparently learned a new version of the “Twelve Days of Christmas” at Kids Connection. Something to do with grandma feeding them a “big broccoli tree” on the first day of Christmas. Now the disagreement comes on the fourth day – Casey J says it’s four “Placa peas” and Z Man swears is four “Black-eyed peas”. “Placa peas” is just the darn funniest thing I’ve ever heard. I was giggling to myself all day today singing “four placa peas”. I was able to record him but still haven’t found an easy way to covert the audio off my phone. I think for New Years we’ll have some placa peas for good luck! :-)

Batman Smells

So this is an experiment of sorts. You have to have quicktime to play this file but it should work. I recorded it early this evening with the CJ was in the shower. I also discovered that they have mastered the technique of plugging the shower drain with their buttocks to make it into a mini-bathtub. Oh the joys.

Press Pause

I had this argument with Casey J yesterday afternoon. He was in the TV room watching a movie and he bellowed “Mommy pause the movie.” “Why?” With more urgency “Pause it!” “Why?” “I hafta pee!” “Just go pee quickly (note – this is a terrible thing to say to a little boy who already has aiming issues) and get back to the movie.” “No! Mommy, pause it.” And so on back and forth until I decided if I didn’t get up to pause it this stubborn little boy (who totally gets it from his daddy) might actually have an accident on the couch before missing a moment of his movie. He so won AND he still managed to not hit the intended target zone. I cannot win. Ever. That is why I am outnumbered. What movie was so important you ask? Why it was Alvin and the Chipmunks “Daytona Jones” (play on Indiana Jones with three high voiced and slightly annoying chipmunks). Is it silly to explain to my boys that there isn’t much that is more important than going to the bathroom when you have to go and not when it’s convenient???

That Extra Juice Box

Lego Batman and Robin

Casey J came bounding out of the house with two juice boxes in his hands. I asked him who the extra juice box was for and he told me “It’s for Robert”. Who’s Robert? “He’s my helper”. And off he ran into the “man fort” with two juice boxes. We stared at each other wondering who Robert was and if he really just wanted to drink both of the juice boxes himself. We asked him to show us where Robert was and he pointed at his brother who was already 1/3 of his way into that extra juice box. It was then explained to us that they were playing Batman and Z Man was “Robert” who is Batman’s helper. Oh you mean “Robin” like Batman and Robin. “Yeah mom, Robert.” We rented Lego Batman for the Wii last night and they tend to keep playing the games outside in their own version, so Casey J was Batman and Z Man was “Robert”. :-)

Snot here and there

This is the second time in about a week I have heard the following from the youngest boy – “A-A-A-CCHHOOO, sorry mommy I got some of it (snot that is) on your phone”. Casey J is obsessed with a simple little jigsaw puzzle game that I put on my iPhone to help entertain him at all the various times he gets bored. Which is often. It’s allergy/cold season in our house and if they have even a tinsy amount of snot in their noses they will be sure to sneeze near me, on me, or on something that belongs to me and shoot that lovely stuff right out of their noses. I must be insane not to have tissues everywhere (must create secret pouch to carry tissues in). The little ones we have in the van are almost pointless, especially the way the boys use them. They wipe up (sending some fluids into their hair I’m sure) then semi-wad it up and hand it to me. Like I want to grab that nasty tissue from them…. Ugh. Will the grossness ever end? Every winter I swear I should have invested in Kleenex stocks, but at least the boys are happy because the more tissues we use the more Box Tops they get for their school…. That puts it all in perspective. I’m still suffering from a nasty cold so that’s all for me tonight. Off to dream of clean bathrooms, and boys with good table manners – hey I said it was a dream. :-)
