Remember how when you were still living under your parents roof you had to ask permission to do things. Like “Mom, can I go to the mall with my friends?” I find it so funny and ironic that now it’s the opposite. I get a call from my mom this evening and I quote “Hey, can I come up Friday night and go watch the boys soccer game on Saturday?” Um, yeah. Like I’m going to tell my mom no! Apparently my dad is headed down south to go fishing and mom didn’t have much else to do. It’s not quite role reversal but quite humurous. Interestingly enough we go both my folks to follow us on our trip to Colorado. They are leaving later than us but we’ll catch up to each other in New Mexico. Everyone is so darn excited!

Childhood Loss

Please say it’s not so. Mother’s Cookies has abruptly shut down. 230 people lost their jobs. Who will make pink iced animal crackers and the sprinkle cookies?? These were my prized snack pick when I was a kid and when I could convince my mom to let me get some it was heaven on Earth. I think I ate about 20lbs of these my freshman year of college (maybe that’s what they call the freshman 15 – 15lbs it is) because I could buy my own groceries and eat whatever I wanted. Which also involved lots of boxes of Macaroni and Cheese. On another eating note if you have never had a Honey Crisp apple, you don’t know what you are missing. Oh man. That was the best apple I have ever had. They are organic and cost a bit more per pound but every member of my family loved it and that is super rare. So grab you one next time your at the grocery store, you won’t be sorry!!

This is the same boy who while at the pool yesterday went under water, popped up and told me “Mom, I saw your boobies.” What? I thought I mis-heard but no, he did it a second time proclaiming the same view only this time within earshot of the lifeguard who I am sure almost peed on herself she was laughing so hard. All I can say is he really does take after his dad. (I found this clip of video on my external hard drive along with the last slip-n-slide clip). Enjoy.

I dug up some video of the boys playing by their own rules on the first slip-n-slide we set up for them about two years ago. With all the summer activities going on this video popped into my head and I threw together some quick editing on it. I had to put music to it because I am laughing hysterically in the background the whole time. It still makes me laugh every time I watch it. They were saying “1-2-3 go!” then running and crashing into each other. Too dang funny. I’m don’t recall why they were only in their undies but that just makes it even funnier!

You see Velociraptors attacked the local Post Office this week making it nearly impossible for me to go buy stamps and I couldn’t for the life of me find the three books of stamps I already had – until yesterday. So mom’s card will be a day or two late. The thought counts though doesn’t it? Even my post is a day late. Holy cow. Oh well, look at me in all my cuteness when I was little and forget how forgetful I am .
